Development plan for Stadionpark station Rotterdam begins

CITY BRIDGE AND ROTTERDAM STADIONPARK STATION ENRICH ROTTERDAM
The railway design for the new Rotterdam Stadionpark Station began in November 2024. Commissioned by ProRail, a consortium consisting of Benthem Crouwel Architects and Royal HaskoningDHV, with support from West 8 and AT Osborne, is working on the design to transform the current event station at De Kuip into a full-fledged train station.
KRALINGSE ZOOM - ZUIDPLEIN
As a consortium, we created a draft design with ProRail for the station, tracks, and the traverse over the railway. A seamless transfer between train and tram is central to this design. It was recently announced that a tram connection will be established over the future city bridge between Kralingse Zoom and Zuidplein. This high-quality public transport connection will link the southern part of Kralingen-Crooswijk with the new station. The Kralingse Zoom-Zuidplein line will also reach Rotterdam Stadionpark.
"A logical and well-functioning station with identity, next to one of Rotterdam's icons: De Kuip."

FROM EVENT STATION TO DAILY TRANSPORT HUB
The current Rotterdam Stadion station is only used during events at De Kuip. The transformation into a regular train station aligns with planned developments in the immediate area. The development of this station as a mobility hub will give an impulse to the surroundings. In fact, good public transport is a prerequisite for further growth of the area around De Kuip. This will absolutely have a positive effect on the stadium triangle and the area development of the Feijenoord district.’
With the arrival of the tram over the future bridge and with six trains per hour, accessibility between the east and south sides of the city will improve significantly. This will give an impuls to the area and is an important milestone in improving the accessibility of the region.
"Good public transport is a prerequisite for housing, work, and education around the new station."
