The site of the parking facility terminates the development area round the railway station and is at the same time the crossover to the inner city. Threading through it is a walking route stitching it into the central city fabric. The car park consists of five linked rectangular concrete parking decks, with outer walls constructed of large grates of expanded metal in a steel frame. Large spans and slender columns leave lots of free space and clear sight lines. The steel floor joists are incorporated in the concrete floor, so that the underside of the floors is flush and the facility gets optimum daylighting. Thrusting its way across the ground floor of the car park is the route for pedestrians, marked by light entering through transparent glass blocks in the floors above. At each of the two corners stands a tower containing stairs and lifts.
