On Wednesday, the 15th of February, the book presentation and debate 'Highway x City'
will take place in Berlage hall of Delft University of Technology, from 1:30 pm to 4.15 pm.
In the first half of 2016, seven multidisciplinary design teams have been working on spatial concept around the ring road of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. Means of transport, such as electric and self-driving cars, the design teams searched for possible answers to the question of how the relationship between city and highway can be improved in terms of quality of life, space and accessibility. The designs and strategies are included in the book 'Highway x City' and provide a wide range of concept and future scenarios. Benthem Crouwel Architects studied the A27/A28, Science Park Utrecht.
During the debate, the question is asked, among others, which measures can be used to actually improve the relationship between highway and city. Is this more concrete? Other mobility? More city? Technology as a panacea?
